Hope at last!

Well I woke up this morning and it feels like Xmas cause there are finally jobs to apply for in my local area. I'm hating this unemployment thing and to add to it all apparently I am not entitled to any Job Seekers - I HATE THE GOVERNMENT!!!! Why is it people who work hard all their lives get nothing for it and those lazy buggers who do nothing get all the help under the sun?!? This is not something new to people I know but never really given it much thought until it happened to me.

Anyways back to better stuff - LOVING my cinema unlimited pass right now and have put it to good use. Went to see Funny People which was not quite what I thought it would be but it was still really good. Jonah Hill was def the star of the film and I urge people to go see it if you enjoy such films as "Knocked up" and " Superbad" etc. Adam Sandler is playing something very different from many of his other roles and it includes the cutest kids ever!

Last night I went to see "500 Days of Summer" and I came out desperate to go and see it again. It has an awesome soundtrack and an even better cast. At some points my heart was actually aching for the main character and I think that most people who go to see it will feel his pain and sit there and think "oh my god I've been there". Please please please go see it you will not be disappointed. Next film on my hit list is The Final Destination and looking forward to seeing what the 3D element brings to it.

Well need to go for now as I have preparations for a baby shower to continue with. Bring on the cupcakes and baby bottles!!

peace out (OK I cant get away with that)

Are you aware you have to be seeking employment?

Well I called to make my very first ever benefit claim today and the dude read me the different rules etc that go with it and he said "and you realise you have to be actually seeking employment?" Well forgive me for maybe thinking that the majority of the human race understand plain English but is that not why it's called Job Seekers Allowance? Not to be too critical of people but of course I'm seeking work, does my previous employment and education history give any indication that I am the type of person who wants to sit on their arse for months on end while trying to survive off the pittance that the government offer you? ah well at least I can make use of the free dental and eye care that you get but hopefully unemployment wont last long, dont really fancy having to go and "sign on" every fortnight.

On a better not had a good day back at my old school. Went to pick up some things that I left at the end of term and ended up staying for ages and helping Lynn do stuff in her class but it was a good afternoon. Enjoyed having lunch with her and Keith, gonna really miss that staffroom at lunchtimes but there is a job coming up there in October hopefully so fingers crossed for that....would love to go back there.

Had another jam with Stu and I pose the question "how long does it take two quite intelligent people to work out how to operate a piece of recording equipment?" well it seems the answer is about an hour! Fuck's sake how bad is that hahaha we sort of worked it out in the end and had some time left to record voice and guitar and sounds not too bad but will hopefully manage to remember the working from this week to next and get a bit more done but then again I am a dole bum now so many I will slowly lose brain cells from watching too much Jeremy Kyle and other such day time TV!!

Overdue update

No apologies just straight into it......

Things that have been happening to me this summer:

Finished my probation in teaching and now have my full registration but it really means very little considering I have no job to go to :( Life is now filled with going to the job centre to find out how to sign on as I have never done it in my life which I think is quite an achievement considering Im nearing 30 (fuck that is scary to see that written!)

Had an another amazing summer with Team Activity - the usual old team is back with some great new additions to the team. Camping trip to Beinglas was "epic" and so many things to keep as a memory form that trip (ahem Craig, Stu & Melissa, rain, tumbling drying our clothes after the rain flooding the tents, getting pissed in the shelter resulting in the manager displaying a sign for future residents telling them not to drink in the shelter, walking in the pissing rain to the nearby pub and dancing to some random guy playing bagpipes, rain, drinking lots, enjoying the morning after jokes of Stu & Melissa, gatecrashing a 50th birthday party and dominating the karaoke, being thanked by the manager's wife for the fun we brought to the party! haha, being up really early on the last day and me and Niall being the only ones to make breakfast, packing up quickly and trying unsuccessfully to wake Gary and Stu to get them to pack up...think that's about all I can remember).

Went to London and had a fab time with Claire and met Michael Ball and Daniel Boys oh and saw Kelly Jones waiting at the bus stop :). Had fun watching the incestuous mother and son on the bus eugh!!

Yet more Team Activity fun on the end of scheme night out and was highly buckled but managed not to be sick or fall over despite not having my glasses on for most of the evening fuck knows why I took them off :s

Having a wee "jam" (sorry Stuart still cant use that term without cringing) and finally managing to start the song on time, fingers crossed that we actually manage to work out how to record something :P

Things to look forward to hope to include getting a job and having a fab birthday (god 28)

Hangover from hell!

Thankfully not me but I went to see The Hangover last night and it was FUCKING FUNNY! I know that it's one of those road trip goes wrong films but seriously I can't place my finger on what made it different (well apart from this one having Bradley Cooper) but it was really funny. The character of Alan was genius, coming out with epic one liners that had me crippled with laughter and not because the words were actually funny but more the time of when he chose to say them. It was done in a very clever way, having the characters wake up the next day and only when they try to retrace their steps do you actually find out what happened. The directors did not shove footage of steamers doing mental things in your face but instead you find about them through people telling them what happened and them eventually finding picture evidence to fill in the gaps. Seriously I recommend this film to anyone who is needing a quick pick me up or just need something to do for a couple of hours.
Oh and I didn't have ice cream at the cinema last night im so proud of myself!

Thunder?

Am I going to crazy or did anyone else hear thunder today at around 5.30pm? I was really hoping that it was gonna turn into a full blown thunder and lightening storm but sadly it has turned to nothing and Im a little disappointed to say the least :(
Ive always been a big fan of it and can remember back to when I must have been about only 4 or 5 and we were living in our old house and I was standing outside trying to climb up the fence to get a better view of it all whilst my big brother who is 4 years older had locked himself in the toilet cause he was so scared! I guess I dont feel any sympathy as it was a round the same age that he put dog turd in ma hair and mushed it in with a stick!!! CAN YOU IMAGINE?!?! Don't think ma dad was too pleased as he was the one who had to wash it out HAHAHA!

Oh that reminded me I was talking with Claire recently and we started talking about times when you got a massive row fro your folks for something you did - you know one of those times when they are so angry that they don't even shout "Im so disappointed in you" OMG thats the worst thing they can ever say. One that really sticks in my head was when I was sitting in front of the electric heater (I had an obsession of sitting really close to it when watching TV) and I had laid the TV remote down and forgot about it. Suddenly I heard this sort of sizzling sound and felt sick when I realised that I had stupidly laid it on the grating of the heater whilst the bars were on. When I picked it up the back of the remote had completely melted and the place was stinking. In a blind panic I thought the best thing to do was hide it under my dad's chair (isn't it funny hoe dad's have certain chairs that everyone knows they should never sit in?!?). It didn't even cross my mind that it would be one of the first places he would look and of course I got the usual speech of how I would have got a lesser of a row if I had just been honest and not lied blah blah blah but you don't think about that at the time though do you?!

Have a think about any of those situations that you have been in and let me know....I know I can't be the only one who has done something like that!

Have a great week everyone and remember only 2 weeks to go! :)

oops

Ok Im not going to start by apologising for it being almost a month since my last entry so :P

Right what have I been doing the since last time? let's think...well I've been really busy at work since it's coming to the end of term and stuff so it's all reports and testing and making sure everything is finished off so it's been a tad hectic to say the least. I've also finished the weekly run of Jekyll and Hyde which was amazing and I'm still missing it although it has actually been a number of weeks since it ended but it was just such a great show to be part of.

LOVING the sunshine and have even worn a skirt to work 2 days in a row! I think the first day I walked in Keith (*waves to him if he's reading) nearly died off - don't think many people know that I actually have fully functioning legs. I'm determined to make the most of the sunshine and get some colour on me rather than looking like a giant milk bottle!

oh oh I also did the Race For Life at the weekend and it was bootiful weather for it although I do now have a strange sunburn shape on my back as the top I was wearing had a weird cut out bit in it so that clearly wasn't a thought out choice of wardrobe on my part now was it?!

Other than go into any more great detail I think a bulleted list of what I've done will do just nicely!

  • finished my stint of looking after the cat for my mum and dad who were away sunning themselves god knows where in the world
  • went to BIF fireworks display which was mildly entertaining but very clever
  • Dress rehearsal for Jekyll and Hyde
  • Show week for Jekyll and Hyde
  • Found out I wasn't one of the 11 or so out of about 120 to actually get a job :(
  • After show party (getting back home around 5.45am as Jamie was leaving for work oh dear )
  • Another after show party/disco thingamajig
  • Auditions for My Fair Lady
  • School trip to the Science Centre
  • Found out I didn't get the part I auditioned for :( x2
  • Wedding reception
  • Race For Life
  • Sitting in the park enjoying the rays of sunshine
  • and somewhere in there I went to the cinema to see Angel's and Demons but cant remember exactly where and a bit annoyed that I had to mess up my quite well remembered and may I add chronologically correct list of activities!!!

I'm sure that's enough reading for one day so adios!

Sunday Sunday

Well Ive already let myself slip for a few days but I'm here now to make up for it. Its been a really busy week and thank god its over!
I had a job interview on Thursday and have basically been preparing for that then after it was over I wanted to chill a little and since I had also just been paid I went to buy myself a new ring that I had been admiring for a while :)

Other than that Ive not really done anything worth mentioning to be honest. I'm currently sitting at rehearsals and thought I would take this time when I'm not needed to update this. Only just over a week now till we go on stage and I'm really looking forward to it ( still time for tickets you know!)

Its also Big In Falkirk this weekend so the town is heaving with what can only be described as munters! Its actually quite a good event but there are some folk that just use it as an excuse to get steaming and start fights for no apparent reason!!

Erm think I'm needed for a scene so signing off.....

knock knock who's that at the door?

The title to this entry has nothing to do with what Im going to say but it just popped into my head and I had to write it!. It's something that Lill and me normally sing at Christmas time and we pish ourselves everytime one of us starts singing it so gave myself a wee giggle there although if anyone walked into the room seeing me laughing to myself then they may think im totally crazy (well more so than they do already).

Ok so here are a list of the things that I should be doing right now while im sitting at work;

1. Finish highlighting things in my planning folder (for those teachers out there you will know what I mean).
2. Update class blog with numerous pictures that I have taken to allow kids to share them with folk at home.
3. Put up some of my wall display for my new topic as the class wall is looking seriously bare after I had to take down my fabulous rainforest display (bad times)
4. Make some changes to risk assessment form for planning class trip (AGGGHHHH!).
5. Mark the class work from today.
6. Prepare for my interview on Thursday (FUCK FUCK FUCK).

That's quite a sizeable list to be getting on with and here is what I have done so far;

1. Started my first vlog (quite a bit to go though before it'll be done then I have the editing to go too!).
2. Updated some things on Falkirk Bohemians website http://falkirkbohemians.webs.com and emailed back people who were interested in joining.
3. Sign Falkirk Boho's up to Twitter! (we are so ahead of things!)

AND THATS IT!!!!! I have done NOTHING from my important list and have managed to work my way through a list that is neither important or urgent in any way shape or form at this moment in time! --------> does anyone know a good class I can go to that will help my with my prioritisation skills??

So maybe the title to this blog actually does mean something, maybe it's my future career knocking at the door asking why the hell Im not working hard enough!!!!!

BYEEEE!

Stand aside Marco P-W!

I have just made the most amazing dessert EVER!! I really wanted some Angel Delight (which I had bought in Tesco earlier o today) and started mixing it up but then thought "I bet there are some other things around here that I can add to it" so after raking not too far into the cupboards I manged to find a packet of Cherry Bakewelll Slices and Turkish Delight Squares so I have now made myself a new dessert but can't thin of a name for it. My fab new dessert consists of a bottom layer of bakewells followed by a thin layer of Angel Delight then put some Turkish Delight Squares on top of that then finally top off with the rest of the Angel Delight. CANT WAIT TO FUCKING EAT IT!

May someone can suggest a name cause I stumped!

Time got away from me

I had intended to write this earlier on in the day but I spent so much time farting about on the Internet and then at 5.45pm I remembered that I had a Dinner Dance to get ready for and had to be there for 7pm and had done NOTHING to get ready so had to be drastic and simply switch the computer off as it would have just been calling my name whilst I was getting ready!

Just back from said Dinner Dance and I'm stuffed and looking forward to a nice cup of tea.  Food was good and had a great laugh at our table (cheers Callum, Zoe, Lauren, Steven and David) and I think there were a few times when I almost peed my pants I was laughing so hard!

Its been a quick weekend with some sad news that Mr Mead got married to Denise Van Outen yesterday - god well done to them managing to keep that one quiet! The pics are beautiful and they look so happy together so good for them.

Just about to watch another episode of Ghost Hunters - swatting up cause I really do hope to do my parapsychology course later this year but so far got a grand total of about £10 to put towards the £200 fees for the course so if anyone is feeling generous then please feel free to donate and of course I would give friends discount to all your ghost hunting needs!

I think Ive managed to drivel on for quite enough now so gonna go and enjoy my cup of tea and maybe even a wee biscuit :)

good effort!

Well despite having been awake since around 5am this morning I'm still awake but I am now seriously finding it hard to resist sleep.  Not too bad of an effort if I do say so myself.  Got a call from Jamie to say they arrived safely at Hammerfest in Wales.  Apparently its actually in some holiday park and they are staying in wee chalets or something - how strange that sight must be...Pontins filled with metallers our their nut and shouting for Sepultura amidst caravaners sitting under their awnings enjoying their dinner which they have carefully cooked in their wee galley style kitchen! Actually Jamie assures me that its still the closed season for the holiday park so no old ladies will be harmed during their weekend, that is unless there are any old ladies who are closet metal fans!!

Enjoyed another evening of watching Ghost hunters and such and once again I have freaked myself out and keep forgetting I will be sleeping in this house myself perhaps not the best plans and you would have thought that having done it last Friday would have taught me a lesson! (Christ there I go again using numerous exclamation marks)

So if you ask yourself what have you done today to make you feel proud (thanks M People) then I can answer the question thusly (Dean Tavalures stylee):
During an RME lesson with my class where I was aiming to teach the the story of creation and how God created the world in 6 days (of course I don't actually believe that but heh sometime you gotta do what the man says) and a little boy piped up in the loudest voice " Miss Procek how did God create the universe and man if there were already dinosaurs roaming around the earth long before there was man?" This was exactly the question that I was dreading but knew it would come at some point and actually could have guessed which child would have asked it(oh I was right by the way!).  I took a wee second to think about it before answering him - "Well science and religion are two very different things and when people believe in something so strongly then all they need is their faith to believe its true and no amount of science of evidence of anything of the sort will make them believe any different and although you may not have the same beliefs it is only right to honour the beliefs of that person and not try to enforce your beliefs on them whether or not you think theirs is true" he seemed to be quite satisfied with the answer but you just know he is going home think "that was total bollocks" and I think he could tell I was thinking the same thing as him cause as they have had me as their teacher since August they know I am a very scientific person and know there is no way I believed what I was telling them but all I can say is i did my best and I think, even if just slightly, I may have got away with it!

Well sadly Im up again for work (once again my other job which I ahve yet to explain) in the morning so its time to head to the land of nod and say adios for now.

Up with the birds!

Its currently 5.29am and I'm awake - "Why up so early Shelley" you may well ask and of course I'm going to tell you or there wold have been no apparent point of writing this!
Jamie is of to Hammerfest this morning and me being me I was up making sure that he had everything cause I know that he is going to gt half way to Wales and think "FUCK" and by then it will of course be too late (although he may expect me to drive it down to him!!). He's just toddled off with his rucksack all packed, after me  asking him numerous annoying questions like "do you have enough money" and "do you have a jumper in case its cold". I can probably work out that he's not actually giving a shit if its cold or not - that's what beer is for right? I'm just going to take my worry hat of now and hope that one of the 4 of them will text me at some point over the weekend to let me know that they are still alive and not been arrested or anything!

Some good news to share....thanks to Claire I am now the proud owner of a front row seat for Jimmy Carr in august or at least I will be once I have given her the money for it!

Ok short and sweet but I really need to try and get back to sleep as Im up for work soon and I dont think I'm going to be much use trying to teach children if I'm tired but those bloody birds are singing really loud and despite having double glazing I cant seem to block it out and Im really resisting the urge to do a Gary from Friends!

OCD and me

Ive never actually thought of myself as someone who has any form of OCD but in a conversation with someone the other I made a realisation that actually I do have a few things that I do that would be considered so!

When I lock a door I need to actually say to myself "Ok door is lock" or I always have a sever doubt in my head that its not and end up going back just to check cause god forbid anyone would come into my house and steal something, albeit that there is nothing really worth stealing (other than Jamie's computer of course).
Also when I'm reading a book to myself I read the punctuation or it just doesn't seem to make any sense so I'll be like "There was a wee dog sitting in the garden [full stop] His ball was his favourite toy [comma] but he has so many he never seems to have the time to play with them all[full stop]. If I don't read the punctuation then i have to go back and read it again!!
Something else Ive noticed more and more recently is that I seem to have this obsession with reading the number plates of vehicles I drive past and I have to work out how old they are - fuck knows why!!

Ok enough that....oh but last night I couldn't get to sleep for ages cause I knew that the wardrobe door was open a little and I could see the blackness inside and it totally freaked me out but obviously not enough for me to want to get up and close it properly.  I think its all the ghost hunter type programmes I've been watching recently on Sky, I fecking love them but I have a seriously over active imagination and manage to convince myself that there is something there watching me!

Well since I think I have successfully manages to convince people that I am a bit of a freak I think its time to book myself some counselling and lock myself in a padded room for a week or so!

Is it just me or....

Is it just me or are there some words you just never seem to use in a text?! As a use of predictive text my phone's dictionary obviously knows which words I sue most often and that's the ones is supplies me with as first choice and when I just sent a text to Lauren I needed to use the word "cares" and it was like 7th on the list.  I had never really thought about it before though but its clearly  a word I never use very often in a text! I wonder if there is a way to find out which words you use most often...hmmm that would be interesting or perhaps for those people who are not sad and geeky like me it would just seem like a huge waste of time.

Anyway enough of that for the time being...what to say? Well had another rather uneventful day although it was a fun day.  We started making our own class set of Top Trump cards and used the skills and qualities of good team members as how to rate ourselves.  the kids really like the idea of having a class set of Top Trumps with themselves as the players so mental note to use that one in the future! Had rehearsals again last night which was a little drama filled (not in the good way!!) and in my eyes it was a little childish but wont go into that as it will bore the people who have no idea what I'm talking about.  Going to see a local drama group's show tonight - its always good to check up on the competition and see what they have to offer although I am very proud of what we have achieved so far and its now less than 3 weeks till curtain up ooooooooo SCARY!

SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT.....if anyone wants tickets to Jekyll and Hyde in Dobbie Hall, Larbert 12th-16th May then please email me (devildollsp@gmail.com) i can assure you it will be a very entertaining evening and the show is FAB!

Ok think that's all I wanna say for now so over and out

Tell me why....I dont like Mondays

Well Easter holidays are officially over and today it was back to work.  Not a bad day all in to be honest, it was good to catch up with people and not so good to hear about their lovely relaxing holidays aggghhhh!

Yesterday's rehearsals were good, looking forward to getting all the singing ironed out tomorrow night and then its only 3 weeks to go...OH MY GOD!  I'm really looking forward to seeing and trying on the costumes, it makes such a difference to how you play your character.

Quite an uneventful day and therefore not much to blog about I'm afraid although I thought I would just keep up the effort.  That's been a few days in a row so going good so far....might just try this out for a few months and see how i get on before I attempt the next step into vlogging!

Ok going to stop wasting people's time now and sign off.....

Silence is LOUD!

So has anyone been to a silent disco before? I had heard about them and had always wanted to go to one and yeah I could see how it might be fun but I wasn't quite prepared for how much fun it was actually going to be.  One of the local pubs had one last night and my friend and I decided at like midnight "what the hell it can be any worse than doing nothing." So off we toddled to the pub and paid the deposit for out headphones and walked onto the dance floor to find people dancing about like usual only we hadn't put on our headphones yet so it was rather weird.  That must be what its like when filming scenes of folk dancing you know how they put the music in afterwards and people have to pretend that they are dancing to a certain song HAHAHA
Ok so we put our headphones on (those really big ones so not too flattering but what the heck everyone had them on) and we took a wee seat until we felt brave enough to actually join in.  Well a few drinks later and when Beyonce's Single Ladies came blasting through the headphones we knew it was our time! We headed to get our groove on and we never looked back really.  At one point we were a little warm so we went outside to the patio area and the beauty was we could still hear the music out there so as any normal person would do (ok maybe not normal but certainly drink fuelled) we kept dancing and before we knew it we had moved most of the rest of the folk outside and we were all dancing our wee hearts out!

I was a bit dubious of what it was going to be like but I can safely say that I would go to another one in a second. Ive set myself the goal of doing as many new things as I can this year (think its cause I'm scared of being on the wrong side of 25 and hate to admit that I might be getting old) and Silent Disco was def one of them so I can tick that off my list.  Next thing - flash mob, so if anyone knows of any happening in or around Central Scotland please let me know cause I'm dying to take part in one.  Oh and if you can think of any other interesting things to try or things that you have tried that you really enjoyed and thoroughly recommend then pleases let me know :)

Commit already!

OK well not actually sure what to say except how disappointed I am in myself for my lack of commitment to this and have therefore given myself a sever slap and have regathered my thoughts to come on here and actually say something!

I have always wanted to be the kind of person who has the patience and commitment to be a blogger and seeing some of my friends and also enjoying other people's vlogs i really wanna do that too but am yet to take the plunge! I'm very tempted to start my first vlog today when I get back from work but will decide later if I'm actually going to do it.  I don't want to start one and then not be able to update on a regular basis and get annoyed with myself....that's the worst kind of annoyed!

Anyways the school holidays is over in what seems like the blink of an eye and it's almost time to get back to work but it is the last term after all and therefore makes it more appealing! God I use a lot of exclamations don't I? Ah well...where was I? Oh yeah school :( nah not really love the job which may be sad to admit but Ive not been in the job long enough to be cynical about it yet but I'm sure the man will get to me in the years to come.

OK well think that's all I wanna say just now, looking forward to a last weekend before work again on Monday and will decide whilst I'm out at work (OK that's gonna confuse people as Ive been talking about being on holidays for 2 weeks but will explain at a later date and its not the kind of work some people may assume...DIRTY MINDS! and rather a long insert into a sentence that people are going to have to look at back at to see what I was actually saying before I started typing this part) whether or not I'm going to commit to starting a vlog.

Ok over and out
